Bobby Bones Book

So I have been reading Bobby Bones first book entitled, Bare Bones.  It’s the first non school book I have read in years.  Let me explain a little.

So I had heard of Bobby Bones when I was in California, but only a few times and I never really knew who he was.  Then two years ago, we moved to Northwest Arkansas and I was looking for a country station to play in my car.  I came across KKIX 104 and his morning show.  Literally from the first 5 mins, I was hooked.  He has this way about him, he can really connect with his audience.  He’s very relatable, and I appreciate that about him.

I think the reason he is so relatable, is how he grew up.  He had a pretty rough childhood, yet he worked so hard to get where he is today.  So he knows what it is like to be without.  He knows and understands the struggles of a lot of his listeners.  And he gives others hope.  He has his mantra that he always says, “Fight, Grind, Repeat”.

This book is amazing.  I can’t put it down.  And I know that when I am done, I will want to read more.  So I am happy he announced that he has written a second book.  Because I will finish this one soon and run out and get his new one.

If you know what it’s like to have a rough childhood. To really struggle and you need motivation to know that with hard work, you too can make it to the top.  This is the book for you.  Pick it up and read it and then pick up his second one.

Hey Bobby, I appreciate youuuuuuuuuu!!!!

Music

Music feeds my soul.  I have been singing for as long as I can remember.  I sang in choir through grade school and high school.  I sang the lead part in my grade school operettas and I also was apart of my high schools show and jazz choir.  I loved singing.  Now a days, I sing only for myself.  In the shower, in my car, sometimes at work.  Most of the time, I don’t even realize I am doing it.

Yeah this is probably what I look like doing it too.  I just love music that much.

I am a fan of all kinds of music.  Growing up as a teenager in the 90’s, I was all about Grunge music.  My life revolved around Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Blind Melon.  I was this wanna be skater chick.  I wore my dad’s clothes, because baggy jeans and flannel shirts were the cool thing to wear.  I had a chain wallet and I smoked.  I thought I was so cool.  And I guess for that time, I was.

But as I got older, I learned to appreciate all music.  But my soul fell in love with Country Music.  I remember my mom had a box set of Garth Brooks.  I locked myself in my bedroom one day and I listened to him over and over.  And from that moment on, I was hooked.  I couldn’t get enough.  I loved Garth (I mean, who are we fooling.  He’s the GOAT in country music,), Reba, Shania Twain, George Strait, Johnny Cash, and Kenny Chesney.  Hell, I even started dressing like them.  I had the boots, wranglers, big belt buckle, and even the Stetson.

Fast forward almost 20 years and I still love country music.   I still sing everywhere, to the annoyance of my husband and coworkers.  Being that my husband is a heavy metal fan and plays heavy metal guitar, he and I don’t see eye to eye on music.  But he can appreciate what I like, as I appreciate what he likes.  He’s even been to two Kenny Chesney concerts with me and I saw Motorhead, Megadeth, Testement, and Ministry with him.

Bobby Bones, if you are reading this, you have my dream job!!!!

Awesome Products

I wanted to share with you some products I love.  I won’t put anything here unless it’s something I use and love.

Have you ever tried pure castile soap?  My absolute favorite is Dr. Bronners.  The lavender is my favorite.  I discovered Dr. Bronners when I lived in Santa Cruz, CA.  I received a small bottle after I got my nose pierced in 2004.  I’ve been hooked every since.  This soap is organic and vegan.  It’s the best smelling soap you will ever use.  I promise.

Another product that I am completely obsessed with is L’Oreal’s EverPure Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner.  This shampoo has completely transformed my hair.  I have very fine hair.  I absolutely hate it.  After using L’Oreal’s EverPure shampoo and conditioner, I feel like my hair has more life.  It’s not flat it just looks better and feels softer.  Because it’s not being stripped by sulfates.

I’m finally getting to a point where I actually like my hair.  It’s taken me years to get here.  I’m pretty sure I will never use shampoo or conditioner with sulfate in them again.

If there was ever two products you should try, it’s these two.  I promise you, you won’t regret it.

Take Care of Yourself

Now that I am in my late 30’s….wow, it’s so weird to say that.  I’m 37.  But time has moved so fast that I don’t actually feel like I’m 37.  I take that back.  There are some days where I feel 37 and older.  But sometimes, I still feel like I’m in my 20’s.  It feels as if it was just yesterday that I was turning 25.  And here I am about to turn 38 soon.

You don’t realize it when you are younger, however once you start getting older and maturing, you notice things that you should have been doing.  Or should be doing.  Such as a skin care routine, taking vitamins, getting more sleep, or even something as simple as drinking more water.

I was terrible at all of these things.  I never drank water, because I found it so boring.  So plain.  But all you have to do is spruce it up a bit and that makes it more enjoyable.  Add lemon or cucumbers and mint.  Anything that will make you want to drink it more because it really does make your skin more beautiful and it also makes you feel so much better when you are properly hydrated.

Another thing I was terrible at for a very long time was taking my vitamins.  I never understood the importance of them and I could never be bothered to take them.  After reading up on them, I now understand.  The picture to the right are the vitamins I take.  The two gummies are my multi-vitamin, the big white pill is calcium, the small white gel cap is biotin, the clear gel cap is vitamin D, and the pink small pill is vitamin B12.  I actually feel better when I take my vitamins because I know I don’t get all my dailies from what I eat.  And I love the biotin because I am growing out my pixie hair cut and I noticed this time round, (this is my third time growing out a pixie), my hair is growing faster than it normally does.  So the biotin has been helping a lot.

Lastly, skin care.  Skin care is so important.  You don’t think about it in your teens and 20’s because your young and your skin is fine.  That is how I was.  I didn’t do anything for my skin.  Now that I am older, I am starting to see fine lines and spots I never had before.  I wish I had started a routine a long time ago.  Especially because unlike my husband, I wasn’t blessed with the best genes.  He’s 10 years older than me however looks younger than me. So I really need to get this skincare routine down so that people don’t mistake me for the older one in this relationship.  But I guess it’s better late than never.

So whether you are young or older, start taking care of yourself.  Not only will it make your look better, you will feel better too.

Facial Scrubbies

Skin care is so important at any age.  I’ll admit, I wasn’t always the best at it.  Especially with washing off my makeup.  I would just get a bar of soap and wash my face.  Or some days, I forgot to wash my face and went to bed with my make up on.  I know…I know.  That is terrible for your skin.  Now that I am older and I am starting to see those fine lines, I know I really need to take care of my skin.  I should have started earlier in my 20’s, but who really thinks about that in their 20’s?  So here I am in my late 30’s finally taking notice.  Better late than never.

So anyways, the point of this post is that i discovered the best facial scrubbies, as I call them.  These facial cleansing pads are the best thing since sliced bread.  I am serious.  They remove all my make up and they make my skin feel so soft.  The little bristles are soft and work so well.  I can’t tell you more how much I love these.  You’ll just have to try them yourself.
