No More Cable

Is cable TV even needed anymore? I don’t think so. Not with streaming. There are so many different ways to be able to watch your favorite shows. We had cable for the past two years. We were spending hundreds of dollars for channels we never even watched. But for those two years, we were stuck in our contract. Finally it was over in May of this year and I know we needed a change. So we cut the ties that bind us. We cancelled our cable. And we made the switch. We now use SlingTV, Netflix, and an antenna for local news channels. We are saving about $130 a month and couldn’t be happier. We stream it all with our Roku. This was the best decision ever. We will never got back to cable.

Are you ready to cut the ties that bind? Get a Roku and start streaming now. Click the link below to get yours. You won’t be sorry.

Apple & Eve Organics

My oldest daughter is going back to school. I’m looking for better things she can have with her lunch to drink. We try to limit her soda in take as much as possible. And definitely don’t want her drinking that at school.

We tried Apple & Eve Organics juice boxes in fruit punch and grape. She definitely liked it. They are 100% juice and organic. None of that concentrated stuff.

So if you want to give your kids something healthy in their lunch bag at school, why not give them Apple & Eve Organic 100% Juice.

Future LPGA player

So my daughter had her very first gold lesson with The First Tee.  She did fantastic for never having ever played golf before.  She said she loves it and cannot wait to go to her next lesson.  This makes me incredibly happy.  I’m hoping this is going to be the something she becomes passionate about.  Kind of how I was passionate about competitive swimming for 15 years of my life.

If she becomes good enough, she could get a scholarship to play on the women’s team at the University of Arkansas.  I know, I know wishful thinking.  But a mom can hope, right?

Here is a short video clip of my daughter during her first lesson.  Enjoy!

Bobby Bones Book

So I have been reading Bobby Bones first book entitled, Bare Bones.  It’s the first non school book I have read in years.  Let me explain a little.

So I had heard of Bobby Bones when I was in California, but only a few times and I never really knew who he was.  Then two years ago, we moved to Northwest Arkansas and I was looking for a country station to play in my car.  I came across KKIX 104 and his morning show.  Literally from the first 5 mins, I was hooked.  He has this way about him, he can really connect with his audience.  He’s very relatable, and I appreciate that about him.

I think the reason he is so relatable, is how he grew up.  He had a pretty rough childhood, yet he worked so hard to get where he is today.  So he knows what it is like to be without.  He knows and understands the struggles of a lot of his listeners.  And he gives others hope.  He has his mantra that he always says, “Fight, Grind, Repeat”.

This book is amazing.  I can’t put it down.  And I know that when I am done, I will want to read more.  So I am happy he announced that he has written a second book.  Because I will finish this one soon and run out and get his new one.

If you know what it’s like to have a rough childhood. To really struggle and you need motivation to know that with hard work, you too can make it to the top.  This is the book for you.  Pick it up and read it and then pick up his second one.

Hey Bobby, I appreciate youuuuuuuuuu!!!!

Music feeds my soul.  I have been singing for as long as I can remember.  I sang in choir through grade school and high school.  I sang the lead part in my grade school operettas and I also was apart of my high schools show and jazz choir.  I loved singing.  Now a days, I sing only for myself.  In the shower, in my car, sometimes at work.  Most of the time, I don’t even realize I am doing it.

Yeah this is probably what I look like doing it too.  I just love music that much.

I am a fan of all kinds of music.  Growing up as a teenager in the 90’s, I was all about Grunge music.  My life revolved around Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Blind Melon.  I was this wanna be skater chick.  I wore my dad’s clothes, because baggy jeans and flannel shirts were the cool thing to wear.  I had a chain wallet and I smoked.  I thought I was so cool.  And I guess for that time, I was.

But as I got older, I learned to appreciate all music.  But my soul fell in love with Country Music.  I remember my mom had a box set of Garth Brooks.  I locked myself in my bedroom one day and I listened to him over and over.  And from that moment on, I was hooked.  I couldn’t get enough.  I loved Garth (I mean, who are we fooling.  He’s the GOAT in country music,), Reba, Shania Twain, George Strait, Johnny Cash, and Kenny Chesney.  Hell, I even started dressing like them.  I had the boots, wranglers, big belt buckle, and even the Stetson.

Fast forward almost 20 years and I still love country music.   I still sing everywhere, to the annoyance of my husband and coworkers.  Being that my husband is a heavy metal fan and plays heavy metal guitar, he and I don’t see eye to eye on music.  But he can appreciate what I like, as I appreciate what he likes.  He’s even been to two Kenny Chesney concerts with me and I saw Motorhead, Megadeth, Testement, and Ministry with him.

Bobby Bones, if you are reading this, you have my dream job!!!!
